Our tour kicks off in the vibrant city centre of Windhoek, where we uncover the historical and cultural roots of Namibia. We start by visiting Christ Church, an iconic landmark that symbolizes Windhoek’s colonial heritage. From there, we make our way to the Ink Palace, where you'll learn about the seat of Namibia's judiciary and its role in the nation's development. A peaceful stroll through the Parliament Gardens follows, offering insights into Namibia's political history amidst beautiful greenery. Finally, we step back in time at the Old Fort, one of Windhoek's oldest buildings, rich with military history. This segment of the tour provides a comprehensive look at the foundation and evolution of Windhoek, touching on both social and political aspects.
Leaving the city centre, we head through the suburbs to the lively township of Katutura. This area, home to more than half of Windhoek’s population, is buzzing with energy and life. In Katutura, we visit the bustling 'Single Quarters' market, where you can sample traditional Namibian delicacies like mopane worms and kapana. The market's vibrant pulse and the warm interaction with locals make this a truly immersive experience.
Our journey continues with a visit to Penduka, a remarkable initiative that empowers unskilled women. Here, you will learn about Penduka’s mission to help women earn a living and support their families through traditional crafts. You’ll have the opportunity to explore and purchase unique handmade crafts, directly supporting local artisans and their communities.
Our tour concludes with a drive back to the city centre, where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation. Reflect on the rich experiences and knowledge you’ve gained throughout the day.
